A film location is to make the film more realistic. Obviously a film is more realistic when it is filmed at a real places and not everything is CGI.
Reflection: It was interesting to see that you can actually visit the film locations and get the feeling of the film like you are in it. I actually visited some of the film locations of Harry Potter myself and it was fantastic. If you have a favourite film/ film series you should definitely visit some of the film locations yourself.
