Film Poster Analysis of X-Men: Dark Phoenix || Barthes codes

Film poster analysis of "X-Men: Dark Phoenix"

The theme of the film poster is the fight between the Good and the Evil. The poster is diagonally splitted into a red and a blue half which stands for Good and Evil. Blue is symbolic code for Good and red a symbol  for Evil. There is a woman at the top middle who stands on the red half. She has red hands and red hair. Behind her, you can see flames and fire which has a connection to a phoenix. At the top you can see the sentence "The phoenix will rise" which is related and confirms the fact that the woman could probably be a phoenix. The lightning bolts in the background are a semantic code for supernatural powers, because one woman at the lower right makes hand signs as if she was controlling the lightning bolts which links the poster to the action film genre. The sentence at the top is also an enigma code, because you want to see what is happening when "The phoenix will rise". There are more men and women standing in the middle (more to the blue side) whose face and body expressions show that they are going to fight. That is a action code. In conclusion you can say that this is a film poster of a supernatural, action film in which there is going to be a fight between the Good and the Evil. One of the superpowers shown in the film will be the power of a phoenix.

Reflection: This was the exercise to the blog "Barthes Semiotic Codes" and was good practise for the exam.
